Calvin Audis is a professional bass trombone player and low brass pedagogue. He is currently an assistant director for the Texas Tech Trombone Choir, a teaching assistant at Texas Tech University, and a founding and active member of the Red Raider Collective (an experimental trombone performing ensemble that performs at both the state and international level). Mr. Audis studied at Northern Arizona University, were he received both a Bachelors and Masters of Music under the tutelage of David Vining. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Trombone Performance at Texas Tech University, under the direction of James Decker. Mr. Audis has performed alongside some of the biggest musicians of today including: Marvin Stamm, Bob Mintzer, Rusty Higgins, Gary Anderson, Carl Saunders, Andy Martin, Bill Waltrous, Scott Whitfield, Ginger Berglund, Gary Hobbs, Jack Petersen, and other members of the Toshiko Akiyoshi Big Band, the Count Basie Orchestra, and the Stan Kenton Alumni Big Band. He has had the distinction of being a member in the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Youth Band, Mike Vax All-Star Big Band, the Verde Valley Symphonia, Max Lopez’s Big Band, the Prescott Pops, and has been on the sub list for both the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.
